Shamrock Cookies

Hello Everyone!

I learned a lesson this week: don’t wait until the last minute to get your cookie cutters. Guess what pretty much every store is sold out of right now? Shamrock cookie cutters. Boo. But guys, St. Patrick’s Day is almost here and I’m certainly not going to let it pass without trying my hand at some Shamrock Cookies! As my mother would say, “Don’t tell me I can’t…” Ha! Challenge accepted.

Turns out, disposable aluminum cookie sheets aren’t too bad for making cookie cutters. They are long and flat so they give you plenty of material to work with. After cutting the strip I folded it in on itself using a ruler. Okay fine, my husband says it’s a scale. If you try this be careful, the edges are sharp.

And since I had some mini heart cookie cutters I just used those to shape the leaves. So much easier.

Ta Da!  Moral of the story: Don’t give up. Improvise, adapt, overcome. Something like that. Or Amazon. That would have worked too, but then I wouldn’t have learned how to make my very own cutters.

Anywho, the cookie cutter worked great. I’ll admit it’s not as sturdy as my other ones, but it held up just fine and what’s better is that it’s washable and reusable.

Here are the results:

Until next week!

Love and cookies,
Sherry
