Turkey Arrangement

Hello everyone!

For this Thanksgiving I wanted to do something a little different with the cookie design.  Instead of a platter of turkey cookies, I decided to make one bigger turkey made up of a bunch of little “feather” cookies.  Of course I’m not sure how I feel about everyone plucking feathers off the poor little guy until he’s naked!  Hmmm!Maker:L,Date:2017-8-16,Ver:5,Lens:Kan03,Act:Kan02,E:YI didn’t have a turkey cookie cutter or even feathers.  So I shaped the feather cutter from a disposable aluminum pan (like I did for the shamrock cookies a long time ago).  The turkey body was actually an owl cookie cutter with his ears cut off.

I wanted to keep the feathers super simple with just a few colors and a simple design.  The simple design copied a bunch of times makes the whole thing busy enough without being too much.  Although, I did play with a few designs on parchment paper before settling on this design.

There are a total of 20 cookies in the arrangement.  It took some time to figure out how to arrange the cookies into three layers.  The perfectionist in me wanted even layers, but I found the only way to make sure all the cookies showed was to have 10 cookies on the bottom layer, 5 on the middle layer, and 4 on the top layer.  Otherwise the cookies overlapped too much or made holes in the fan.  Hmm, I guess the perfectionist came out to play anyway!  Oh well, gobble gobble Happy Thanksgiving!Maker:L,Date:2017-8-16,Ver:5,Lens:Kan03,Act:Kan02,E:YLove and cookies,

Sherry
